About the Role
The Senior Specialist, VDC is responsible for creating and managing 3D electrical models for construction projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and coordination across teams. This role supports coordination meetings, performs 2D drafting, and handles project documentation.
Responsibilities
- Create accurate 3D elements for electrical work on construction projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules and field requirements.
- Coordinate models and drawings with project field supervisors.
- Provide final installation drawings to Project Managers for field use and develop as-built models for project closeout and delivery.
- Support less experienced VDC team members by offering guidance and sharing modeling expertise when requested.
- Identify and resolve model clashes between electrical systems and other trades or building components.
- Participate in coordination meetings with general contractors and other trades to address and resolve modeling conflicts.
- Serve as a representative in project meetings as required to support resolution of field and model issues.
- Develop 2D CAD drawings as needed for prefabrication, details, one-lines, and layout.
- Produce accurate as-built drawings and maintain up-to-date project documentation, including drawing files, correspondence, and schedules.
- Update and organize drawing files to reflect ongoing project developments.
- Develop point drawings and ensure alignment with field installation requirements.
- Participate in coordination meetings to stay informed on key changes and project needs.
- Maintain required software licenses and stay informed on new software tools to improve modeling efficiency.
- Create and utilize custom Revit families and templates; provide input on best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance productivity and modeling standards within the VDC team.
- Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
- Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
- Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
- Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
- Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
- Higher Education in a relevant field OR equivalent construction experience preferred.
- Electrical contracting/construction experience preferred.
- Past experience in VDC working with Revit and AutoCAD, BIM 360, and other software.
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams).
