About the Role

The Oncology Diagnostic Liaison is a field-based commercial position responsible for interacting with pathology departments, diagnostic laboratories, and other stakeholders to educate them on the importance of timely and accurate biomarker testing, particularly those relevant to AbbVie oncology therapies with an associated Companion Diagnostic (CDx).

Responsibilities

  • Educate key stakeholders on relevant CDx and testing information related to approved AbbVie Oncology products.
  • Support the AbbVie field sales team as a precision medicine and diagnostics subject matter expert.
  • Develop account-specific business plans with the field sales team to promote customer implementation of high-quality biomarker testing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, access to, and influence over key biomarker testing stakeholders in targeted accounts.
  • Partner with external parties, including reference lab and diagnostic partner field teams, to ensure aligned biomarker testing messaging.
  • Build relationships with precision medicine stakeholders and pathologists aligned to the US Commercial Precision Medicine and portfolio strategy.
  • Execute educational programs on biomarker testing for relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent AbbVie at relevant local and national pathology and precision medicine conferences.
  • Drive biomarker testing process standardization and efficiencies with pathology customers and accounts.
  • Master technical and market knowledge related to oncology Dx testing and its role in the treatment paradigm.
  • Share account insights and market intelligence on diagnostics and testing with AbbVie internal teams.
  • Attend internal field meetings and trainings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in life sciences preferred.
  • 4+ years of industry experience (pharmaceutical and/or device sales) or diagnostics (IVD or laboratory industry) experience; oncology experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated clinical and business acumen in oncology, diagnostics, and hospital laboratory settings.
  • Experience presenting and discussing scientific content relevant to cancer biology and molecular genomics.
  • Thorough knowledge of the diagnostic oncology market, including precision oncology, biomarker testing, and technologies.
  • Established relationships with diagnostic laboratories, oncologists, pathologists, or precision medicine department leaders highly preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car, or truck.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
  • Meet safe driving requirements.
