About the Role

Grow the agency’s client base through relationship building in the community and personal visit sites. Identify persons who currently do not have benefits or an agency affiliation. Through a one-on-one meeting, determine if the person can benefit from the support and services of CHOICE such that their lives will become stable, recovery centric and interactive.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and build relationships with organizations and individuals in places such as hospitals, shelters, partner agencies, medical care clinics, mental health providers, soup kitchens, food pantries, and associations dedicated to helping marginalized persons, promoting and building awareness regarding CHOICE, its mission and services.
  • Meet one-on-one with persons needing services and screen to determine eligibility.
  • Review potential clients with Outreach Supervisor for final approval.
  • Partner with eligible persons throughout the enrollment process until intake is completed.
  • Act as a support partner to potential clients, assisting them with essential care relationships through enrollment completion.
  • Proactively report trends, relationships, and developments to Outreach Supervisor; track activity, clients, and outcomes.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have direct experience with a mental health condition or disability, or have a family member with one, as CHOICE is a peer organization.
  • Proven ability to empathize with clients.
  • Tenacity and passion for the work, balancing objectivity with empathy.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage staff and individuals in shelters, soup kitchens, and similar environments.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
