About the Role

The Azure Core Storage team delivers the Storage Virtualization platform for Azure Virtual Machines, handling trillions of input/output operations daily. As a Software Engineer II, you will design and implement software components for Azure storage solutions, impacting billions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop system software for Azure storage services.
  • Perform system design with well-defined interfaces, code reviews, and data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure services and components are modular, secure, reliable, diagnosable, monitored, and reusable.
  • Consider testability, portability, reliability, and maintainability for rapid deployment and monitoring.
  • Drive quality and continuously improve system quality.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), guiding engineers and managing on-call duties for system monitoring and incident response.
  • Stay current with developments to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
