About the Role
Perform a variety of tasks to maintain all sections of furnace melting systems. Work from written and oral instructions with assistance to perform teardown, rebuild and maintenance of crucible, and heating coils. Repair or replace cracked or damaged refractory. Reassemble, making sure coil assembly is isolated from crucible with sufficient ram filler. Assist in rolling, assembly, and necessary adjustments on coil units. May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills. Adhere to ACE guidelines and perform ACE duties as required. Adhere to all EH & S guidelines, including wearing of required personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform teardown, rebuild and maintenance of crucible, and heating coils.
- Use arc welder or gas torch to make repairs such as brazing coils and welding support members.
- Repair or replace cracked or damaged refractory.
- Reassemble coil assembly, ensuring isolation from crucible with sufficient ram filler.
- Assist in rolling, assembly, and adjustments on coil units.
- Perform other duties as required to maintain overall shop appearance and work flow, such as mopping floors, operating a forklift, and headroom duties.
- Adhere to ACE guidelines and perform ACE duties.
- Adhere to all EH & S guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must have a strong attendance record.
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to work hours outside of the regular shift.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Requires ascending, descending stairs, standing for extended periods, bending, squatting, twisting, overhead reach, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
