About the Role
As a Specialty Representative/Senior Specialty Representative, you will be the primary customer contact, responsible for implementing marketing strategy and promoting Amgen products. You will own the business within an assigned territory, developing strategies to expand patient access to Amgen therapies by combining clinical knowledge, business acumen, and disciplined execution. This role is vital in delivering Amgen's commitment to patients by providing clinical knowledge of our products to medical professionals.
Responsibilities
- Own and grow your territory by developing and executing a strategic business plan aligned with brand objectives and local market opportunities.
- Build trusted customer relationships with healthcare professionals, key decision-makers, and appropriate office stakeholders.
- Deliver compelling clinical and product discussions that communicate the value of Amgen therapies accurately, confidently, and compliantly.
- Identify high-value account opportunities using customer insights, market dynamics, prescribing trends, and performance data.
- Develop strategic accounts by understanding treatment pathways, patient identification processes, access considerations, and practice workflows.
- Partner cross-functionally with marketing, market access, reimbursement, and other field-based colleagues to address customer needs and improve execution.
- Navigate complex healthcare environments by understanding local systems, account structures, competitive dynamics, and barriers to appropriate treatment.
- Maintain strong clinical, product, and marketplace expertise to serve as a credible and valuable resource to customers.
- Consistently achieve or exceed performance objectives through effective prioritization, resource allocation, and follow-through.
- Operate with integrity and ensure all customer interactions comply with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable laws.
- Share insights and best practices that strengthen team performance and inform broader business strategy.
- Travel throughout the assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel for training and sales meetings, based on business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree OR Associate's degree and 4 years of Sales experience OR High school diploma/GED and 6 years of Sales experience (Specialty Representative)
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of sales experience within pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device industry or hospital sales experience OR Associate degree and 6 years of sales experience within pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device industry or hospital sales experience OR High school diploma/GED and 8 years of sales experience within pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device industry or hospital sales experience (Senior Specialty Representative)
- Five or more years of sales experience and a documented record of top performance within the biotechnology, surgical or medical device, hospital sales, or pharmaceutical industry (Preferred)
- Specialty product, surgical or medical device, or hospital sales experience in one or more of the following areas: pulmonology, allergy, oncology, dermatology, rheumatology, inflammation, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, infectious or rare diseases, GI or any surgical specialty (Preferred)
- Demonstrated strength in Amgen’s core competencies: Planning and organizing, Leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, Communicating with impact, Driving for results, Cultivating internal and external relationships
