About the Role
Develop skills in design process, including sketching, garment construction, fabrications, and color development. Support the development of product lines by maintaining color palettes, conducting trend research, and managing line sheets. Participate in the fit process by creating design cards and managing fit changes.
Responsibilities
- Develop skills in silo sketching, understanding of garment construction, fabric library, fabrications, color balance and development.
- Build and maintain color palettes for the team.
- Support in trend and market research.
- Help to maintain line sheets.
- Develop design cards.
- Edit product details throughout the design review process that impact final execution of product commercialization.
- Create and update design cards.
- Participate in fittings with the tech team.
- Manage ongoing fit changes.
- Learn and master Illustrator for sketching silhouettes, filling bodies, and building line sheets.
- Learn and master current tools for design development: Miro, PLM, Vibe, etc.
- Learn and understand the calendar, fulfilling tasks in a timely manner.
- Help to manage deliverables to hit deadlines.
- Support team in meeting prep by printing files and pulling samples and swatches for creative reviews and market sample reviews.
- Anticipate tasks and begin to solve independently.
- Communicate closely with manager and team on progress and next steps.
- Begin to form relationships with key cross-functional partners.
- Participate and provide input in CFT meetings.
- Follow guidelines and support Carter's culture, acting in line with values & guiding principles.
- React positively and adaptively to changes and challenging situations.
Requirements
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Basic knowledge of garment construction, silhouettes, sewing techniques, fabrication and trims.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong time management and creative problem-solving skills.
- Inquisitiveness, excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a creative, team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to analyze and interpret market trends as it relates to our brands as demonstrated through a portfolio of professional work.
- Strong sense of aesthetic and ability to interpret creative trends for the Carter’s brand.
- Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management tool preferred.
