About the Role

The professional tutor is a vital link between STEP students (grades 8th – 12th) and other professional staff within the program. This role functions as a student advocate and role model, assisting participants to achieve both academic and professional success.

Responsibilities

  • Perform one-on-one meetings with students to assist with short and long-range educational goals.
  • Provide academic and professional counseling, including assistance with college and employment applications.
  • Identify students who require additional academic support services.
  • Facilitate seminars and programming with the assistance of other STEP professionals to advance student's academic, personal, and professional growth.
  • Demonstrate and role-model Le Moyne’s mission-based competencies in all interactions.
  • Strengthen digital literacy skills through education and application of digital technologies.
  • Treat all individuals with dignity, professionalism, and kindness.
  • Align professional goals and objectives with the college’s strategic goals.
  • Demonstrate excellent work attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings and training sessions.
  • Comply with all Le Moyne’s established policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
  • Complete all required federal, state, institution, and department trainings.
  • Engage in a planned program of professional development.
  • Continually maintain skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry.
  • Perform a variety of related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • An interest in, and commitment to, high school students.
