About the Role

Pritchard Industries is seeking a skilled and dedicated Building Engineer to join our team. The Building Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the operational functionality of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, across a variety of commercial properties. This role requires strong technical expertise, diligence, and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot system issues to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems, and all other equipment related to the mechanical and electrical plant of the building.
  • Operate, test, manage, and maintain all property systems and equipment.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review logs for service, repair, operation, and complaints related to equipment, making recommendations for proper care and efficient operation.
  • Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance program for mechanical/electrical equipment and critical site systems, ensuring adherence to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Comply with The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Act and all other applicable government rules and regulations, including maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets and all safety practices.
  • Recommend and implement operational mode changes to conserve energy and utilize "green" products, and implement Demand Response load shedding programs.
  • Maintain all areas containing building systems and equipment in a neat, clean, and painted condition.
  • Oversee special maintenance, repairs, or other work performed by others on systems and equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the energy consumption of the Property and recommend enhancements for energy efficiency.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities and operations, keeping records of equipment documents, preventive maintenance, major repairs, energy management, and projects.
  • Maintain records regarding regulated programs such as asbestos maintenance, indoor air quality, and refrigerant management.
  • Perform or oversee testing, inspection, registration, or certification for building equipment or systems.
  • Make monthly written reports to Manager and perform an annual audit of the engineering operation with a written report of findings and recommendations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 7+ years of related work experience in operating Commercial Buildings
  • Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Life Safety Systems
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Familiarity with automated building controls, preventive maintenance techniques and knowledge of pneumatic controls
  • Must work well under pressure.
  • Meticulous and ability to function in a demanding environment.
  • Must possess the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborator who can also work independently and is an initiative-taker.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, dependable, and courteous service to all customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.
  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and make decisions.
  • May be only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts.
  • May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations.
  • May require shift work and/or on call duties.
