About the Role

Vice Presidents in Corporate Communications play a critical role in helping lead and execute integrated communications for Teneo’s clients. They are responsible for driving high-quality work across corporate communications, executive positioning, media relations, stakeholder engagement, issues management, and crisis communications. VPs are expected to be strong client counselors and trusted partners who can navigate complex situations, manage ambiguity, and translate strategic priorities into clear, actionable communications plans.

Responsibilities

  • Key member of “Core Account Team,” working with Account Managers and Leaders on client mandates.
  • Mentor junior team members and ensure client teams are progressing against client objectives.
  • Serves as a reliable, adaptable resource for senior team members capable of overseeing others.
  • Identify and keep up with trends across the media landscape, including within paid vs. owned vs. earned; old vs. new media.
  • Engage with media including pitching news and meeting with reporters to uncover opportunities for clients across the firm.
  • Leverage network of media relationships (as well as other stakeholder relationships) to serve clients and bring opportunities to the firm.
  • Manage day-to-day account work, and the production and refinement of deliverables – including strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&A, briefing memos, distributed media materials, and others.
  • Contribute to the Business Development process, including proposal development and pitch participation.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in either public relations, corporate communications or media.
  • Strong track record of managing client relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to see complex projects through to execution.
  • Knowledge of the media landscape and demonstrated track record of engaging with press and/or fostering reporter relationships.
  • Experience with issues and crisis management, or complex and/or sensitive mandates.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business and financial markets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to navigate complex or ambiguous environments.
