About the Role
Gold Star offers feed and nutrition services and commodity trading in the northeastern U.S., primarily to dairies. As feed and commodity specialists, our customers count on us to originate feed for the mills, manufacture it according to their unique specifications and handle logistics for a safe and smooth delivery every time.
Responsibilities
- Organize, perform, and complete the delivery of commercial bulk and bagged feeds in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate truck in a safe and courteous manner, prioritizing safety in every delivery task.
- Maintain truck, including pre-trip checks and adherence to DOT and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure cleanliness of truck, including regular washing and cleaning of exterior and interior.
- Load, reload, and assist other drivers in loading as required.
- Inspect hatches, augers, and blowers to confirm they are operational and serviceable.
- Ensure feed is unloaded to the proper location/bin.
- Ensure accuracy and proper completion of all scale tickets, delivery papers, driver logs, and associated documentation.
Requirements
- Valid class B Commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements.
- Current DMV printout required as part of application process.
- 2+ years CDL-B driving experience required.
- Driving record must meet minimum risk management requirements.
- Ability to read English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, including being courteous and safe on customer property, public roads, and company property.
