About the Role

The Design Manager oversees and guides the creative design process, ensuring innovative and high-quality design solutions. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing design projects from conception to completion, and maintaining design standards to enhance brand identity and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the design team, providing direction, mentorship and support.
  • Oversee the development and execution of design projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand design requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Evaluate and improve design processes and workflows.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, tools and technologies.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets and resources.
  • Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Represent the design team in meetings and presentations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the design team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design management, preferably within the commercial furniture or interior design industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading design projects from concept to completion.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring design teams.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to design and construction.
  • Contract furniture industry knowledge required.
  • Working knowledge of Herman Miller and/or Knoll preferred.

Skills

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and CET.
  • Experience with specifying software such as CAP 2020 or equivalent.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices.
