About the Role

Join the engineering team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer focused on the edge and ingress layer. You will own the design, hardening, and operation of Cloudflare edge configurations and the ingress/reverse-proxy stack, ensuring traffic reaches applications securely, reliably, and at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Cloudflare edge configuration including WAF rules, custom Rulesets, Bot Protection, and Rate Limiting policies.
• Design and maintain DNS architecture in Cloudflare.
• Implement and operate mTLS with Authenticated Origin Pulls, private PKIs, and manage certificate lifecycles.
• Build and support self-service automation for edge configuration using Terraform.
• Develop and operate solutions using Cloudflare Workers and R2 Storage.
• Own the ingress and reverse-proxy layer including HAProxy, TLS termination, and protocol handling.
• Design and manage reverse proxy topologies and load balancing across AWS infrastructure.
• Build, operate, and improve Kubernetes ingress controllers and design Kubernetes Operators.
• Operate and extend service mesh capabilities including traffic management and observability.
• Partner with Security to defend against OWASP-class attack vectors and manage ACLs.
• Implement robust monitoring and alerting for edge, DNS, and ingress health.
• Lead incident response for edge/ingress-related incidents and participate in on-call rotations.
• Document architecture, standards, and best practices.
• Act as a subject matter expert providing technical coaching and architecture guidance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Cloudflare Engineer, or Platform/Infrastructure Engineer.
• Hands-on production experience with Cloudflare including WAF, Bot Protection, DNS, and certificate management.
• Production experience operating HAProxy or comparable reverse proxies.
• Experience with AWS networking primitives including Direct Connect, Load Balancers, and VPC routing.
• Working knowledge of service mesh technology such as Istio.
• Experience operating Cloudflare Workers and R2 Storage in production.
• Solid understanding of web application security including OWASP Top 10, credential stuffing, and DDoS mitigation.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform and Atlantis.
• Solid scripting/programming ability in bash plus Python or Golang.
• Familiarity with observability stacks such as Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, Tempo, or Splunk.
• Solid understanding of HTTP semantics including caching, CORS, and cookie/session management.
