About the Role
As an AI Advisory Principal, you will lead Scale's Advisory work in your vertical, end-to-end. This hands-on role involves shaping and qualifying opportunities in pre-sales, owning client relationships and discovery work during delivery, and building the vertical point of view. You will also help build the Advisory motion itself as one of the function's first hires.
Responsibilities
- Lead engagements end-to-end, acting as the Directly Responsible Individual.
- Own the client relationship, run workshops, and lead the final readout.
- Drive the direction and be accountable for the outcome of engagements.
- Coordinate and direct Solutions Engineers, Designers, Tech Leads, and DSGs on engagements.
- Build the approach and lead the Advisory portion of key pre-sales meetings.
- Bring industry roadmap examples from buyer peers and qualify opportunities with Account Executives.
- Represent Scale and Advisory at industry events.
- Develop the vertical's point of view, including AI-shaped problems, best practices, and technology learnings.
- Surface engagement patterns and reusable approaches to update the Advisory methodology.
- Manage and coach the Consultant on engagements, providing feedback and input on hiring.
- Own the vertical, from the first pre-sales conversation through the final readout.
Requirements
- Senior manager or principal equivalent experience at a Tier 1 firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG ideally).
- 7+ years of work experience.
- AI strategy or transformation experience strongly preferred.
- Scoping, proposal, and pitching experience.
- Ability to shape and sell an engagement, not just deliver it.
- Judgment to advise clients directly on where AI creates value and shape AI-shaped use cases.
- Technical credibility to speak to AI builds and work with Solutions Engineers on feasibility.
- A classic consulting toolkit (strategy, operating-model, governance, change management, exec-ready storytelling).
- Experience designing and facilitating client workshops.
- Ability to build relationships and establish trusted-advisor credibility.
- Strategic but hands-on approach.
- Willingness to travel 30-60 percent.
