About the Role
East Side House (ESH) is seeking creative professionals to design and lead enrichment activities for students in grades 6 through 8 in their Youth After-School Academy. This program aims to provide additional learning time in a fun, engaging, and safe environment, reinforcing skills needed to meet New York State standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and document educational, recreational, youth leadership, community service, and arts activities.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety and care of children.
- Build positive relationships with participants and foster positive connections between them.
- Actively engage with children to foster their positive development.
- Conduct yourself professionally as an agency representative.
- Effectively manage assigned groups and enforce the progressive discipline policy.
- Assist in enrollment, recording, and submitting daily attendance records and other required documents.
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies, ensuring accountability and proper storage.
- Collaborate with specialists implementing activities.
- Participate in staff development, supervision, team meetings, and training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Department of Health Fingerprint Clearance
- Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance
- State Central Registry (SCR) Clearance ($25.00 Fee)
- Staff Exclusion List (SEL) Clearance
- Physical examination and TB test
- Mandated Reporter Training (2 hours)
- Foundations of Health and Safety Training (5 hours)
- Clearance to work at ESH, contingent upon successful completion of background checks and/or screenings.
- Ability to work well with colleagues in a high energy and collaborative environment.
- Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds.
