About the Role

East Side House (ESH) is seeking creative professionals to design and lead enrichment activities for students in grades 6 through 8 in their Youth After-School Academy. This program aims to provide additional learning time in a fun, engaging, and safe environment, reinforcing skills needed to meet New York State standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and document educational, recreational, youth leadership, community service, and arts activities.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety and care of children.
  • Build positive relationships with participants and foster positive connections between them.
  • Actively engage with children to foster their positive development.
  • Conduct yourself professionally as an agency representative.
  • Effectively manage assigned groups and enforce the progressive discipline policy.
  • Assist in enrollment, recording, and submitting daily attendance records and other required documents.
  • Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies, ensuring accountability and proper storage.
  • Collaborate with specialists implementing activities.
  • Participate in staff development, supervision, team meetings, and training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Department of Health Fingerprint Clearance
  • Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance
  • State Central Registry (SCR) Clearance ($25.00 Fee)
  • Staff Exclusion List (SEL) Clearance
  • Physical examination and TB test
  • Mandated Reporter Training (2 hours)
  • Foundations of Health and Safety Training (5 hours)
  • Clearance to work at ESH, contingent upon successful completion of background checks and/or screenings.
  • Ability to work well with colleagues in a high energy and collaborative environment.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds.
