About the Role

McCarthy Tétrault is seeking a Financial Analyst for their Toronto office. This role involves capturing, using, and analyzing financial data for reporting and strategic initiatives, supporting the Management Team in business planning, revenue budgeting, forecasting, and rate setting. The position offers a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Management Team with data gathering and analysis for annual rate setting, including maintenance of special rates and rates for new timekeepers.
  • Contribute to the Firm’s revenue budgeting and forecasting processes and annual attorney admissions/bonus analysis.
  • Conduct external research and analysis of the Firm’s results against benchmarking information.
  • Develop and maintain report templates for revenue and rates reporting for various firm leaders.
  • Report on Firm, practice, region, industry group, timekeeper, client, or matter/case revenue results on a regular and ad hoc basis.
  • Support the development and automation of reports, including enabling self-serve reporting capabilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Accounting, Finance or Business Administration).
  • Accounting designation, Master’s Degree (MBA) or Master’s in a related field – completed or working towards completion strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years of related work experience post-graduation.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and BI tools for query and visualization (SQL, VBA, Power BI, Iridium etc.).
  • Familiarity/experience with practice management applications (e.g. Aderant Expert) is an asset but not required.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships.
  • Very strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Innovative, proactive, and forward-thinking with a commitment to end-user requirements and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proven aptitude towards learning new applications.
