About the Role

Clio is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the Calendar & Court Rules team, responsible for managing jurisdiction-specific court deadlines. This role involves working on complex, correctness-critical problems and requires a presence in the hub office twice a week.

Responsibilities

  • Go deep on complex, correctness-critical problems including jurisdiction logic, deadline calculation, cross-system data sync, and dependent billing.
  • Lead projects end-to-end, including design, documentation, and cross-team coordination.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and design discussions, focusing on growth through feedback.
  • Represent the team in cross-Clio technical discussions on architecture, standards, and ambiguous problems.
  • Amplify output with AI and implement structure to maintain clarity and speed.

Requirements

  • Deep experience building and scaling web applications in Ruby on Rails, particularly with non-negotiable data integrity.
  • Proven track record of leading and documenting projects end-to-end (design docs, decision records, run-books).
  • Strong mentorship skills, especially in growing early-career engineers through listening and asking questions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and cross-functional collaboration, including building consensus and translating technical concepts.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build high-trust relationships with technical and non-technical partners, and customers.
  • Demonstrated track record of past projects, including wins and lessons learned.
  • Active use of AI to enhance craft and enthusiasm for exploring its potential.
