About the Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to be the hands-on specialist working to keep our property in top shape. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will be the person who ‘makes things work,’ from fixing a leaky faucet to troubleshooting an AC unit or repairing a guest room door. While we prioritize a solid foundation of handyman skills with experience, we are also seeking a team player who understands that hospitality is just as important as hardware.
Responsibilities
- Head to guest rooms to resolve reported issues quickly and professionally, ensuring they have a great stay.
- Take ownership of fix-it tasks including drywall repair, painting, basic carpentry, and furniture touch-ups.
- Conduct daily status checks on all major building equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify potential issues before they cause service disruptions.
- Perform routine repairs on HVAC units, unclog drains, replace faucets, and handle basic toilet/sink maintenance.
- Handle light electrical work such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, outlets, and wall switches.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs of guest rooms as directed by the Maintenance Manager for the hotels formal PM program.
- Perform inspections and fix minor issues before a guest ever notices them or equipment fails.
- Maintain all front-of-house areas (entrance, lobby, hallways, club room areas) and back-of-house spaces (offices, equipment rooms, employee areas) to ensure they are clean, safe, and fully functional.
- Familiarize yourself with all fire life safety equipment and emergency procedures; in the event of an emergency, respond following established procedures and help where appropriate to ensure guest and staff safety.
- Support the hotel team by completing other projects or responsibilities as directed by the Maintenance Manager or Hotel Manager to ensure smooth property operations.
