About the Role

Hughes Hubbard is seeking an associate with over 4 years of experience to join their Private Client Services practice. The role focuses on tax law, wealth management, and trusts and estates.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel high-net-worth individuals and family entities on estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer and income tax matters.
  • Draft prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
  • Handle estate administration and all aspects of tax controversy, including IRS examinations and appeals.
  • Perform legal research and analysis using library reference materials and/or electronic resource tools.
  • Communicate and correspond with colleagues, clients, and other counsel.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with others.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Organize and prioritize workload.
  • Understand and follow written and oral directions.

Requirements

  • Must be admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
  • Ideal candidate has trusts and estates experience at a large NYC firm with a Private Client Services practice comparable to Hughes Hubbard’s.
  • Preference for candidates with stellar law firm employment history (limited changes since law school graduation).
