About the Role

The College and Career Readiness Teacher will primarily work with 11th graders, teaching the College and Career Readiness (CCR) course. This role ensures juniors are maximally prepared for the SAT college entrance exam and understand the application process for college and career programs. The teacher will deliver lessons on SAT strategy and content, college admissions, career matching, and personal statement writing, while also assisting with mock and official SAT exams. The role requires motivating students to achieve ambitious growth goals on their SATs.

Responsibilities

Planning and instructing lessons focused on College Knowledge, Career Success, socio-emotional learning, and SAT instruction in Math and Evidence-Based Reading & Writing (EBRW).
Differentiating and aligning daily instruction based on data.
Assisting with after-school and summer SAT Prep classes.
Supporting the Student College and Career Ambassador Program.
Infusing joy and a passion for excellence into the junior College and Career Readiness course.
Motivating and investing students and families in the CCR Course and college entrance exams through relationship building and strong communication.
Maintaining grades and attendance in PowerSchool for students.
Assisting with mock and official exams on five Saturdays throughout the year.
Planning and chaperoning a junior college trip.
Teaching an Advisory class of no more than 15 students.
Supporting a team of college counselors by monitoring the classroom and providing additional assistance.
Engaging in weekly PLC meetings, including agenda contribution, data analysis, and action planning.
Committing to professional and personal growth through collaboration with the Manager of College and Career Readiness and attending professional development.
Assessing student progress and communicating results to families and colleagues.
Assisting the Manager of College and Career Readiness with projects as they arise.
Modeling school values in all communications with students, families, staff, and outside organizations.

Demonstrated experience working with low-income, first-generation college-bound students and their families from diverse socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Exhibit a “whatever it takes” mentality and easily adapt to changes.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline and goal-driven environment.
Fast learner with the ability to ask for and be open to feedback.
Flexibility, strong work ethic, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
High level of responsibility for ensuring that over 85% of seniors matriculate to college.
Minimum of three years of relevant work experience, preferably working with large groups of students.
Must notify HR if you move or have plans to relocate.

About the Company
