About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Marine Engineering Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance and upgrade of Woolwich Ferry’s vessels and shoreside assets. This role is crucial for ensuring assets are available for service and comply with all standards, playing a key part in delivering a safe, reliable, and punctual ferry service while driving asset performance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day management for a team of maintenance engineers, establishing clear goals, direction, and support.
- Lead from the front, communicating strategies and objectives in a relevant and engaging manner.
- Ensure workable safe work procedures are in place, aligned with company policies, and adhered to by the team.
- Oversee the full implementation of the computerized asset management system.
- Establish annual maintenance plans and ensure all planned, corrective, and arising work is scheduled and assigned to sufficient and competent resources.
- Maintain assets in line with designated standards.
- Manage budgets according to the company’s business plan, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings.
- Provide periodic reporting of activities for escalation.
- Deliver training, mentoring, and competence assessment for the team and other operatives.
- Identify team development needs to ensure satisfactory maintenance standards.
- Manage 2nd tier contractors, consultants, and external resources within budget to meet maintenance strategy requirements.
- Participate in on-call duties.
- Input to the capital works plan for asset refurbishment or replacement.
- Specify replacement assets to meet system requirements and whole life cycle cost.
Requirements
- Degree in a relevant electrical discipline, Electro-Technical HNC/HND, or equivalent electrical qualification.
- Knowledge of working with planned maintenance systems and software.
- Valid UK driving license (desirable).
- Experience in leading planned maintenance teams and chairing maintenance-related meetings.
- Extensive electrical engineering experience within an operational or transport industry.
- Experience of leading teams.
- Experience of work with electrical, electronic, and control engineering.
- Experience with remote monitoring, fault diagnostics & resolution, and PLC systems.
- Experience in maintenance and repair.
- Extensive experience in fault finding, continuous improvement projects, and management of electricians/engineers.
Skills
- Ability to write technical reports.
- Strong IT & computer literacy skills.
- Ability to use Planned Maintenance Software.
- Ability to appropriately coach and guide at all levels.
- Good approach to safety.

Salary/Compensations
- Up to £66,520 plus 12.5% on call allowance (1 week in every 4 weeks)
