About the Role

To present a professional image of Hope Acres to both the public and the residents living within the facility, maintaining a high level of courtesy as well as accurateness in matters of clerical responsibility. To assure the security of the premises, the safety of the residents, and the smooth running of the building.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor activities of clients as required
  • Provide requested information and assist with client orientation to guidelines and schedules
  • Oversee and assist with supervision of clients during daily tasks
  • Provide support, assistance, and encouragement to clients
  • Perform clerical duties for client documentation (EMHware), log book entries, sign-out sheets, and visitor information
  • Make necessary referrals to other staff
  • Make public announcements for clients or staff
  • Conduct scheduled rounds of all property areas and be familiar with fire, health, and safety measures
  • Supervise fire evacuation and safety procedures during shift
  • Monitor client activities in the smoking area
  • Take client attendance at scheduled activities
  • Ensure clients’ late-night snack is made available at the scheduled time
  • Provide accurate and timely conduct reports on client activity to the Program Coordinator
  • Answer and monitor the telephone, routing calls to appropriate departments and staff
  • Conduct urine screening on clients as required and when clients return to the property following a pass
  • Check packages and bags of clients returning from off-grounds activities
  • Attend all seminars, training sessions, or staff meetings
  • Immediately notify the On-Call staff if clients are late returning from pass, following a 15-minute grace period
  • Contact the On-Call staff when any serious occurrence takes place
  • Complete other tasks as required

Requirements

  • Must have access to reliable transport or vehicle
  • Upon hiring, successful candidate must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Screening acceptable to The Salvation Army

Skills

  • Pleasant, courteous, and professional telephone manners
  • Respectful and professional towards clients, public, students, and staff
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Willingness to learn and accept supervision
  • Networking, referrals, and strong knowledge of resources
  • Knowledge and experience with concurrent disorders
  • Knowledge of culturally competent practices
  • Knowledge and experience with data management systems and outcome measurements
  • Awareness and experience with marginalized and vulnerable populations
  • Basic First Aid/CPR Certification an asset
  • Proficient in English language
  • Second language an asset
  • Training as a “Trained Person” under MOE Private Water System regulation and ability to conduct water testing as required

  • Degree or Diploma in one of the Human Services professions
  • Keyboarding and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as email and internet applications

Salary/Compensations

  • $20.09 to $25.11 with a maximum of $30.13
