About the Role

As a Fullstack Software Engineer in the Transport Planning Optimization team, you will design and implement crucial systems that power the efficient delivery of millions of items to our customers. Your work will focus on creating intelligent, scalable solutions that optimize transport plans, leveraging real-time data and advanced algorithms. You will have a huge impact on the performance and cost-effectiveness of Zalando's Logistics while continuously growing your fullstack skillset in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.

Responsibilities

Designing, developing, deploying, operating, and improving performant, fullstack software solutions using Kotlin for the backend and TypeScript with React for the frontend.
Planning sprints and roadmaps by breaking down new and existing feature requests into manageable stories and tasks.
Implementing and fully testing new features before deploying them to production using a continuous delivery model.
Collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to align on timelines and priorities of new features.
Continuously improving the code base and your skillset, and helping colleagues to do so.

Requirements

At least 4-5 years of professional experience as a software engineer in JVM-based languages.
Proven proficiency in Kotlin.
Understanding of SQL and high-performance database architectures.
Proven experience with modern frontend development using TypeScript and React.
Proven experience with integrating APIs.
Experience designing and implementing APIs as part of a microservice landscape deployed on cloud architectures/platforms.
Strong sense of reliability, responsibility, and ownership.
Entrepreneurial & analytical thinking.
Excellent communication skills and willingness to share knowledge.
Experience in all parts of the software development life-cycle.
