About the Role

Betterment is seeking a Legal Counsel – Corporate & Commercial to join its legal team. This role is central to supporting Betterment’s mission of making investing, saving, and retirement solutions accessible and effective for individuals and businesses. As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in negotiating and managing the commercial agreements and corporate matters that underpin Betterment’s operations.

Responsibilities

Drafting and negotiating vendor, technology, and commercial agreements.
Supporting corporate transactions such as M&A and securities matters.
Advising on a range of legal and strategic issues.
Partnering with business teams on new initiatives.
Helping manage board and equity matters.

Requirements

JD degree.
Admission to a state bar.
At least four years of relevant in-house or firm transactional experience.
Ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
Ability to collaborate across teams.
