About the Role

As part of Cat Digital’s Technical Product Management team, you will create the next generation of digital solutions to enable enterprise growth in prime sales and aftermarket parts and services. Your primary responsibilities include developing product requirements, technical solutions, and engineering roadmaps, focusing on maximizing solution re-use, customer value, and enterprise value.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize the value of the product and define work for multiple scrum teams.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, System Engineering, Data and Analytics Architects & Platform Architects to own and progressively elaborate functional and non-functional Epics and Features for the Development Teams to deliver.
  • Act as Product Manager for larger, more complex projects with high value to the organization.
  • Create, maintain, and prioritize the Product Backlog according to business value for the life of the project.
  • Communicate Product Backlog priorities to the team.
  • Act as the key decision-maker regarding product features.
  • Own product vision and convey that vision to the team.
  • Define acceptance criteria for product features.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Make decisions on release dates and content.
  • Represent the customer, interfacing and engaging with the customer.
  • Communicate releases to stakeholders and customers.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • Knowledge of software engineering methodologies and best practices.
  • Lead programs from product strategy and building roadmaps.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Product Management in the software space.
  • Experience with Data analytics and commercializing APIs.
  • Experience in Business level Product Management (Applications or data platform).
  • Cat domain knowledge.
  • Must be based in either Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL.
  • Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position.
  • Successful completion of a drug screen is a condition of employment.
