About the Role
As a "field professional" at Equinix, the world's largest data center operator, you will be responsible for the physical network and infrastructure work within the data center, supporting the core of IT infrastructure. This role is ideal for individuals seeking to enter the IT infrastructure industry without prior experience, as comprehensive training and on-the-job support are provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform代行作業 (agency work) for customers within the data center.
- Transport and rack equipment.
- Perform cabling (wiring) for network devices.
- Conduct visual inspections and checks.
- Handle customer entry procedures and guidance.
- Create simple reports, such as work reports.
- Review work order requests and respond to routine orders within commitment times.
- Escalate and expedite higher-level orders under supervision.
- Follow up on work orders to support the team.
- Maintain notes and records of activity fulfillment in the ticketing system.
- Rack and stack basic customer equipment with guidance.
- Support routine intra-cage and infrastructure installations, including ladder racks, basic fiber raceways, cable management systems, and ground cabinets.
- Perform tape changes and basic backup necessities.
- Support basic cross-connect troubleshooting.
- Support basic testing and routine installations of customer assets.
- Perform standard layer 1 cross-connect certification testing under supervision.
- Support operations and security personnel for breaks or other activities.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely order execution.
- Provide quality customer service during customer interactions.
- Discuss time expectations for new deployments following standard procedures.
- Support customers on-site through access and escorting services.
- Fulfill projects under close supervision.
- Complete assigned training in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Japanese language proficiency (JLPT N1 equivalent) for smooth communication.
- Business experience using English (reading, writing, or speaking).
- Over 1 year of work experience (industry and role not specified).
- Comfort with physically demanding work, including standing and equipment transport (over half of the work involves this).
- For foreign nationals, possession of a "Technical/Humanities/International Services" visa.
- Individuals with no prior IT industry experience, second-year university graduates, and those changing careers from different industries or humanities backgrounds are welcome.
- Previous experience in support center operations is a plus.
- Experience in sales, customer service, or service industries is a plus.
- Experience in the IT industry (help desk, infrastructure operations, maintenance, etc.) is not required but is a plus.
- Typically requires a high school diploma and 1 year of equivalent work experience.
