About the Role
King's InterHigh (KIH) is launching a new asynchronous learning product, a self-paced study offer for iGCSE and International A-Level courses. This role involves shaping a modern digital learning experience from the ground up by combining strong subject teaching, curriculum design, and technology to support learners. You will design, write, and build courses, authoring subject content and designing it for self-paced, online delivery. This is a hands-on creation role with ownership, helping define excellent self-paced online learning by integrating pedagogy, digital tools, media, assessment, and learner experience.
Responsibilities
- Write course content, reviewing, adapting, and developing existing materials for a self-paced curriculum.
- Author lessons, explanations, worked examples, activities, and assessments according to templates and quality standards.
- Write content aligned to iGCSE and International A-Level specifications, exam-board requirements, and mark schemes.
- Design assessments suitable for self-paced learners with instant feedback, including teacher-assessed components.
- Structure and sequence content for independent, self-paced learners with low teacher contact, using chunking, scaffolding, and retrieval practice.
- Build courses within school systems using agreed templates and brand guidelines.
- Create a suite of multi-modal resources including video lessons, voiceovers, screencasts, and interactive tools.
- Ensure content is accessible and inclusive, considering SEND, readability, alt text, and WCAG.
- Work to a production schedule and meet agreed milestones.
- Submit drafts for review and revise based on feedback.
- Adhere to licensing and IP constraints, using third-party content legally and creating compliant material.
Requirements
- Current or recent teacher with a teaching qualification and strong subject and curriculum knowledge.
- Experience developing lesson materials for online delivery.
- Experience in asynchronous lesson design or course development.
- Understanding of designing for independent, self-paced learners.
- Assessment design aligned to iGCSE and International A-Level specifications, exam-board requirements, and mark schemes.
- Experience working with an LMS/VLE.
- Willingness and ability to record video lessons and voiceovers, comfortable on camera and mic.
- Awareness of accessibility and inclusion (SEND, WCAG, readability).
- Self-motivated and self-managing, able to work to deadlines remotely and autonomously.
- Confident taking ownership of a course from specification to build.
- Experience of synchronous lesson design (highly valued).
- Familiarity with iGCSE and International A-Level exam-board requirements and specification alignment (highly valued).
- Experience with interactive content authoring and digital tools (highly valued).
- Basic media editing skills (highly valued).
- Understanding of GDPR, copyright/licensing, and safeguarding in online education (highly valued).
