About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within NSW Fair Trading for a Policy Officer. We’re seeking an analytical and collaborative individual to develop and implement policy initiatives that deliver improved regulatory outcomes. You will play a key role in researching, analysing and advising on policy and legislative issues that shape fair, safe and efficient marketplaces.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, consultation and analysis to support the development and implementation of policy and legislative reform.
- Thoroughly understand and analyse legislation.
- Prepare clear, evidence-based advice, reports, and correspondence for senior management executives and Ministers.
- Consult with internal and external stakeholders to ensure policy reflects customer needs and operational realities.
- Contribute to the review of legislation, frameworks, and programs to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support strategic projects and cross-agency collaboration to achieve regulatory and community outcomes.
Requirements
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical policy solutions, including the ability to understand and analyse legislation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Excellent written skills, including experience preparing briefings and reports.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound understanding of government and regulatory environments.
- A collaborative nature who enjoys working in a team.
