About the Role

Dandelion Chocolate is seeking a Director of Stores to lead its growing café and store operations. This role is responsible for positioning Dandelion as the premier destination for craft chocolate, streamlining operations, and cultivating a high-performing team. • Develop systems and training protocols to improve hospitality and retail service standards, ensuring guests feel welcome and informed.
  • Track and achieve revenue goals, labor costs, and contribution targets while maintaining positive reviews and team retention.
  • Create systems and processes to ensure consistent café operations across all locations.
  • Develop and roll out comprehensive training programs for new team members.
  • Manage team retention, support first-line managers, foster a sense of belonging, and establish clear advancement paths for store staff.
  • Create merchandising guidelines adaptable for specific location needs.
  • Assist in building revenue targets, labor forecasts, and capital/operational expenditure plans.
  • Regularly visit assigned locations to identify issues, coach in real-time, and foster a consistent store culture.
  • Continuously improve and standardize systems to support future expansion.
  • Provide weekly status reports to the leadership team on trends, forecasts, and potential challenges.
  • Meet regularly with store managers to stay informed about their teams.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary.

Requirements

  • Experience managing teams, including coaching, motivating, and strengthening managers, leads, and associates.
  • Willingness to work nonstandard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as stores operate 7 days a week.
  • Over 3 years of management experience in premium store and/or café operations.
  • Proficiency in learning new systems, analyzing sales data (e.g., Square), and creating revenue forecast spreadsheets.
  • Strong familiarity with Google Suite and advanced spreadsheet functions (VLOOKUP/INDEX/MATCH).
  • Understanding of basic financial principles, including creating revenue forecasts and labor plans.
