About the Role
Keywords Studios is a global leader providing creative and technical services to the video game industry. We are seeking an Environment Artist to create high-quality, visually appealing environments that align with project art direction and storytelling. You will collaborate closely with the Art Director and various teams to ensure artistic consistency and quality, while optimizing assets for performance across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality, visually appealing environments.
- Produce environment assets aligned with project art direction and storytelling.
- Adapt to diverse game and graphics styles.
- Create assets optimized for real-time game engines.
- Collaborate closely with the Art Director to maintain overall art direction.
- Work with cross-functional teams throughout the production pipeline to ensure artistic consistency and quality.
- Actively participate in reviews, feedback sessions, and iterative development.
- Produce and optimize assets to meet performance, memory, and platform-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with art and technical art teams to integrate assets into the production pipeline.
- Leverage deep knowledge of real-time environment performance optimization.
- Maintain consistent quality standards while considering technical constraints and engine limitations.
- Identify and resolve creative and technical challenges.
- Continuously update knowledge of industry trends, new technologies, tools, and workflows.
- Contribute to pipeline and production process improvements and efficiencies.
- Continuously strive to enhance visual quality and innovation in game art production.
Requirements
- Proficient in Japanese and have a business-level English proficiency.
- Extensive practical experience as an Environment Artist in the game industry with a portfolio showcasing high-quality game assets.
- Deep understanding of composition, color theory, and visual storytelling, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience creating assets optimized for modern real-time game engines like Unreal Engine and Unity.
- Experience using Substance Painter and various 3D software.
- Proficient in high-poly and low-poly modeling and knowledgeable about various texture production workflows.
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, effectively share ideas, and incorporate feedback throughout the production process.
- Knowledge of game development pipelines and the ability to flexibly adapt art styles to different game genres and target platforms.
- Strong passion for games and understanding of market trends, player expectations, and game culture on PC, console, and Nintendo platforms.
- Experience coordinating with other art teams to maintain art vision and asset quality from concept to implementation.
