About the Role
This position coordinates and hosts health and wellness classes for residents, assisting the Life Enrichment Team in group events. The role supports the Eden Alternative philosophy and St. John's Guidelines for Customer Service.
Responsibilities
- Plan and host health and wellness classes including Seated Chair Yoga, Seat and Stretch, and Sit and Be Fit.
- Assure activities are challenging and meet residents' social, physical, and educational needs.
- Meet residents' therapeutic needs through mobility exercises and education.
- Contact new residents to assess their abilities, needs, and activity choices.
- Develop monthly activity calendars for residents in cooperation with other staff members.
- Attend and participate in Care Plans (only in skilled nursing departments).
- Develop monthly activity calendars and bulletin boards for residents.
- Plan and facilitate group events with the Life Enrichment department.
- Complete necessary documentation.
- Maintain daily contact with residents, staff, volunteers, family members, and guests.
- Maintain relations between community members, visitors, families of residents, and vendors.
- Obey safety rules and attend mandatory safety in-services.
- Keep activity and storage areas clean and orderly.
- Support the Eden Alternative philosophy.
- Follow St. John's Guidelines for Customer Service.
- Follow policies on TB testing and annual influenza vaccinations.
- Attend all mandatory in-services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school completion required.
- Certifications in independent and/or group fitness instruction (e.g., personal training, senior fitness, yoga, dance fitness, Pilates, guided stretching, water aerobics, or related courses) required.
- Six months previous work experience in a similar setting preferred.
- Knowledgeable about community resources, events, and opportunities to make the activity program interesting.
- Ability to develop, plan, and coordinate activity programs independently.
- Ability to work under time deadlines, manage time efficiently, and work effectively with diverse groups.
- Valid MT Driver's License and a good driving record required.
- Knowledge of and certifications in physical fitness related programs preferred.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
