About the Role

Provide high quality, developmentally appropriate child care and early childhood education to children attending the Center for Generations, fostering their physical, emotional, and spiritual development in a fun, safe, caring, and educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct child care within an atmosphere that promotes the Mission of St. John’s United.
  • Ensure a fun, safe, caring, educational, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
  • Enhance the physical, emotional, and spiritual development of each child.
  • Comply with all St. John’s United policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training.
  • Identify supply and equipment needs and ensure equipment and facility are clean and in good repair.
  • Provide effective and appropriate classroom management and activities.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers on curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Create and maintain an effective classroom schedule and environment.
  • Follow lesson plans and curriculum guides, adapting as needed to meet children's needs.
  • Foster developmental growth in children (physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional).
  • Provide opportunities for various interactions and activities (small/large group, indoor/outdoor play, special events, rest, meals).
  • Engage in positive guidance management practices, maintaining children's self-worth and dignity.
  • Support growth and participate in Eden Alternative tasks.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or HiSet.
  • Must have a genuine love for children.
  • Must be knowledgeable and familiar with quality child care, normal child development, and State of Montana Licensing Regulations.
  • Must be trained in child and infant CPR and 1st Aid, or obtain certification within a reasonable amount of time after date of hire.
  • Must follow Practitioner Registry requirements regarding trainings and maintain current status.
  • Ability to handle stress, difficult situations, changes, and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Experience in classroom management and developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Flexibility to work cooperatively with children, coworkers, and family members.
  • Ability to work under stressful and emotional conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, twist, and lift for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to crawl around on the floor.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
