About the Role

In the Microsoft Frontier Company Engineering team, you will deliver real outcomes for complex organizations by building reliable systems and production-ready services. You will work in multidisciplinary crews, owning the full lifecycle from design through to deployed solutions, powered by AI. This role offers the opportunity to build scalable solutions, influence business strategy, collaborate with global organizations, and apply AI advancements to solve problems at scale.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, test, and maintain services, applications, and tools using modern engineering practices.
Follow Microsoft security, privacy, and compliance requirements; apply secure coding practices, threat modeling, and vulnerability management.
Apply responsible AI principles, evaluate model and data risks, and implement appropriate safeguards and monitoring when building AI-enabled features.
Work with customer stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical designs, and deliver solutions.
Partner with PM, design, data science, and domain experts to make informed tradeoffs, document decisions, and drive alignment.
Participate in on-call/incident response, diagnose issues, and improve reliability through root-cause analysis and preventative fixes.
Create and maintain reusable components, reference implementations, and documentation.
Learn, experiment, and share best practices to improve engineering velocity, quality, and customer outcomes.
Work inclusively, communicate clearly, and act with integrity.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Experience partnering directly with customers or internal stakeholders to deliver solutions end-to-end.
Fluency in Japanese and English language skills.
Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Experience designing, deploying, and operating AI or LLM-based solutions, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented approaches, model tuning, evaluation, data quality, performance monitoring, and use of cloud AI platforms.
Comfortable with travel up to 25%.
