About the Role

STACK is seeking an energetic and focused individual to join our APAC Team to provide leadership in the Building Management System (BMS/EPMS) Design, Delivery, and Commissioning of our data centers in APAC. This role leads in all BMS/EPMS design matters, maintaining a standard Basis of Design for the business, and supporting in-country design teams. The role is also responsible for ensuring the integration of BMS systems into a higher-level DCIM platform and developing a standard solution for BMS API integration with tenants.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an APAC based team of BMS specialists, providing leadership and guidance.
  • Work with internal key stakeholders to define business requirements and develop/update BMS/EPMS standards and reference architecture.
  • Develop regional project trackers to map out ongoing BMS projects and their stages.
  • Develop a standard playbook for BMS project delivery, covering QA/QC requirements and system readiness.
  • Ensure adequate network and computing provisions are made for BMS/EPMS systems.
  • Develop reusable BMS templates and databases to improve project delivery lead times and quality.
  • Introduce automation in daily operations via BMS/EPMS systems, developing dashboards and reports.
  • Support the commissioning team and witness critical controls systems testing.
  • Develop a standardized approach for all commissioning processes on critical control systems.
  • Act as a point of escalation and provide guidance to site teams during incidents.
  • Implement new standards to reduce incidents.
  • Prepare User guides, conduct end-user training, and address escalated operational concerns.
  • Collaborate in the continual development and refinement of the Project Delivery Playbook, Process, Tools/Platform, and Basis of Design.
  • Manage external vendors, including selection, relationship management, and performance reviews.
  • Implement company procurement procedures, manage projects, develop specifications, and analyze total cost of ownership.
  • Perform yearly reviews of BMS spending and prepare draft budgets.
  • Operate in accordance with STACK values, enabling a cohesive and positive working environment.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with the wider STACK team, stakeholders, JV partners, consortia members, support consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Promote team members to maximize their performance and realize their potential through coaching and mentoring.
  • Promote teamwork within the team, local team, and business.
  • Take accountability for driving achievements, ensuring results align with STACK business goals.
  • Foster open communication channels by keeping people informed of changes and decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering field
  • At least ten years of experience in the management of building control, monitoring, and alarm systems for Data Centers.
  • A high level of operational knowledge of Chillers, Direct Exchange (DX) systems, Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) /Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units, dehumidifiers, water pumps, leak detection, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), cooling towers, digital controls and Building Management System (BMS), and fire detection and suppression.
  • Extensive operational knowledge of Electrical Distribution; Switchgear, Transformers, Automatic Transfer Switch, Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), Static Transfer Switch (STS), Battery Management Systems, Generators, and Power Distribution Units (PDU’s) to the branch level.
  • A forward planner who can work independently to identify and resolve project issues.
  • Experience working in a data center with hands-on working experience of operational technology and OT vendors.
  • Passionate about project controls and optimization, process focused with a deep understanding for Development / Construction Project Scheduling.
  • Ability to juggle multiple high-level priorities with competing timelines while welcoming new, urgent challenges.
  • Culturally sensitive and enjoy working across different markets in APAC.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Skills

  • Advanced technical skills in BMS products from Schnider Electric/Tridium, Niagara Framework with strong hands-on experience.
  • Understanding of technologies related to Data Center Control Systems such as Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM), ICT networking, and Security Systems.
  • Expertise in designing, programming, and maintaining complex BMS Systems including energy and power monitoring of critical spaces.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex project documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with vendors.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information with relevant authorities.
  • Good planning & prioritizing skills.
  • Eye for quality details.
  • Goal oriented.

  • Proficient in data center commissioning standards.

  • Ability to understand PUE and other efficiency calculations.
  • Ability to correlate BMS data vs tenant power usage and present into BMS Dashboards.
  • Ability to interrogate multiple devices using open protocols such as Modbus, BACnet.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL/MySQL, MS SQL and webservices (added advantage).
