About the Role

The Senior Individual Philanthropy Officer will play a central role in helping The Asia Foundation grow and strengthen its individual giving program. This position manages a portfolio of major donors and prospects while supporting donor engagement strategy, fundraising communications, events, and team operations. It is an ideal role for a relationship-driven fundraiser who is comfortable cultivating donors, writing compelling communications, coordinating high-touch events, and using data to drive strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and prospects using moves management to secure five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Develop individualized engagement and solicitation strategies aligned with donor interests and organizational priorities.
  • Conduct donor meetings, virtual briefings, cultivation events, and follow-up activities.
  • Identify and cultivate new major donor prospects.
  • Track donor activity, pipeline movement, and next steps in the CRM.
  • Facilitate the creation of donor-facing communications including proposals, stewardship reports, and newsletters.
  • Translate complex programmatic work into compelling donor-centered narratives.
  • Ensure consistency in donor communications and messaging in line with brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate and support the planning and execution of donor engagement opportunities and fundraising events.
  • Manage event logistics including budgets, invitations, registrations, and follow-up.
  • Utilize donor data and metrics to support strategy development, segmentation, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and engagement tracking within the CRM.
  • Prepare donor and fundraising reports, dashboards, and analytics to support decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and donor engagement processes.
  • Collaborate with program teams to gather stories, data, and programmatic updates.
  • Participate in fundraising planning and strategy development.
  • Represent the organization professionally with donors, partners, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5-10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, major gifts, or donor engagement.
  • Demonstrated success managing donor relationships and soliciting five- or six-figure commitments.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and donor communication skills.
  • Experience supporting donor events, cultivation activities, or fundraising campaigns.
  • Experience with fundraising databases and CRM systems.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data, manage donor pipelines, and support forecasting.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
