About the Role
Amazon Music is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Data, Insights, Science and Optimization, Music Product and Tech (DISCO M&G) team. This role involves analyzing big data, providing analytics and insights, and building models and algorithms to enhance Music product experiences. You will set the science vision, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and lead large-scale science solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead research and development of models and science products for customer identity, acquisition, and retention strategies.
- Partner with Marketing and Growth leadership to develop science-driven business strategies, including segmentation, lifecycle management, and upsell programs.
- Build predictive models (propensity, uplift, causal inference) to support targeted marketing, measure incremental impact, and automate deep dives into metric variances.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to evaluate the impact of growth campaigns, features, and algorithmic interventions through experimentation.
- Analyze experiment results and provide data-driven recommendations to optimize subscriber acquisition and retention.
- Partner with Senior Data Scientists and Product Managers to define, propose, and validate success and guardrail metrics for identity and growth programs.
- Educate marketing and growth teams on analytics, measurement frameworks, and experimentation best practices.
Requirements
- 2+ years of data scientist experience.
- 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g., SQL), scripting languages (e.g., Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab).
- 3+ years of experience with machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters affecting their performance.
- 1+ years of experience working with or evaluating AI systems.
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.
- Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff.
- Adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service.
