About the Role
IAG is seeking a data leader to drive the end-to-end delivery of strategic data and technology initiatives, providing technical direction across cloud-based data platforms and warehouse solutions. This role combines delivery leadership with hands-on technical expertise to lead teams in delivering scalable, trusted, and business-aligned data products.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the design, build, and delivery of cloud-native data solutions on Google Cloud, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable outcomes.
- Lead architecture and engineering decisions across data ingestion, transformation, storage, modelling, and consumption, including enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Deliver trusted data products that support reporting, analytics, operational decision-making, and regulatory requirements.
- Champion engineering best practices across data pipelines, orchestration, data quality, testing, observability, DevOps, and production support.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, risk management, and data governance standards.
- Lead end-to-end delivery planning, backlog management, sprint execution, and agile governance to deliver outcomes with quality and pace.
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to translate strategic priorities into actionable delivery plans and measurable business value.
- Mentor and influence teams through strong technical leadership, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and continuously improving delivery culture while maintaining compliance with organisational policies and delegated authorities.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading delivery as an Iteration Manager, Scrum Master, Technical Lead, Delivery Lead, or Data Engineering Lead within complex technology and data environments.
- Strong hands-on expertise designing, building, and deploying cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Demonstrated experience developing and supporting modern data platforms, data warehouses, and large-scale analytics solutions.
- Deep knowledge of Google Cloud data services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Composer, and related technologies.
- Strong capability across data modelling, ETL/ELT design, pipeline orchestration, data quality management, and performance optimisation.
- Proven understanding of agile delivery practices, backlog management, dependency coordination, and iterative delivery methodologies.
- Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams including engineering, architecture, testing, business analysis, product, and business stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Data, or a related discipline.
- Google Cloud certifications and experience in enterprise-scale, regulated environments are highly regarded.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, AI-enabled data solutions, and delivering business value through technology will be advantageous.
