About the Role
Peraton is seeking a full-time Background Investigator near Poughkeepsie, NY. This role is critical for conducting government background investigations to determine employment suitability for individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.
Responsibilities
- Complete a 6-7 week new Investigator training program, both virtually and in person.
- Travel daily to conduct in-person background investigations.
- Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family.
- Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational institutions, financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities.
- Type and report all obtained information clearly and concisely using a government-issued computer system.
- Work independently and as part of a team with a Field Manager.
Requirements
- Reside within 50 miles of Poughkeepsie, NY.
- 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Daily local travel and travel outside of primary work area as needed.
- Home office required.
- Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY)/remote travel ranging from 14-30 days may be required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Sufficient motor vehicle insurance.
- Accurate and efficient typing capabilities (40+ WPM recommended).
- Ability to work within multiple computer programs concurrently.
- Ability to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently for communication.
- Ability to record, read, and transcribe words and numbers with high accuracy.
- Proficient grammar and writing skills for high-quality reports with minimal errors.
- Ability to interact professionally with others.
- Ability to write for long periods.
- Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to pay attention to details while conducting fieldwork.
