About the Role

Air Canada is looking for a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time position as a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and efficiency of airport ground operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe preventative and repair maintenance to a wide variety of equipment used within airports ground operations in accordance with all applicable regulations and codes.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues using schematic diagrams and diagnostic tools.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid provincial license/endorsement as an Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Duty, and/or Truck and Coach, as recognized by the applicable provincial authority or the Red Seal Program.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the trade.
  • Able to successfully pass the pre-employment qualifying exam.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must meet Air Canada medical standards, including passing a drug and alcohol test.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada and obtain any required work permits/visas.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations.

Skills

  • Knowledge of drive-trains, diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Metal fabrication and welding skills are an asset.
  • Proficient with computers and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a demanding, high-stress environment.
