About the Role
As a People Partner (HRBP) at Hudson River Trading (HRT), you will support a highly technical employee population. You will partner with engineering leaders to understand their challenges and design and execute talent solutions to drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement. You will act as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on problem-solver, building strong relationships to guide leaders through organizational growth, team design, change management, and leadership development.
Responsibilities
- Coach managers and employees through performance challenges, conflict resolution, and career development.
- Partner with technical leads to evaluate team health, identify friction points, and optimize structures to drive team effectiveness and long-term engagement.
- Lead and manage workforce planning for the teams you support, helping leaders anticipate talent gaps, succession needs, and growth opportunities.
- Elevate the quality of feedback within the technical org, guiding managers through performance evaluations and fostering a culture of continuous development.
- Design tailored talent solutions for software engineers, including professional development, mentorship models, and high-potential development.
- Partner with members of the People Operations team to execute on people initiatives and collaborate on building and improving processes.
- Coordinate offsites, leadership retreats, and team-building workshops that bridge the gap between strategic goal-setting and meaningful team connection.
- Maintain a pulse on organizational morale and office dynamics to proactively address engagement trends and foster an inclusive, high-energy environment.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record supporting engineering or highly technical teams.
- Deep understanding of the software engineering lifecycle and the dynamics of high-performance, intellectually rigorous environments.
- Proven ability to coach highly analytical leaders through complex interpersonal and organizational challenges.
- Strong business acumen, including the ability to anticipate talent implications of technical strategy.
- Direct experience in organizational design, workforce planning, and succession strategies.
- Strong analytical skills and a high degree of comfort using data to inform decision-making.
- Exceptional judgment and professional maturity, with the ability to act as a trusted, neutral advisor across all levels of the organization.
- A natural bias toward simplicity and high-impact solutions over bureaucracy.
- A hands-on, collaborative approach that prioritizes crafting specific tools and processes that fit our unique needs over generic HR programs.
