About the Role

Giffen Consulting Ltd. is seeking a contract Structural Engineer with experience in Mining and Heavy Industry to conduct site investigations, design structures, and provide project oversight.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations for mining and industrial projects.
• Review and design of structures, building envelope systems, and structural components adhering to guidelines and client specifications.
• Perform concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs.
• Execute detailed concrete and steel design, collaborating with the design team for 3D models and documentation.
• Perform member sizing with supporting calculations.
• Provide oversight on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget.
• Offer cost estimating review and assistance.
• Write and review technical reports, specifications, and construction specifications.
• Coordinate with various departments and disciplines for project implementation, mine design, and inspection.
• Travel for site visits as required.
• Present project designs and concepts to clients.
• Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural Engineering, from an accredited university.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
• 8+ years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects.
• Familiarity with structural analysis software such as BIM, Advanced Steel, and RISA (Revit is an asset).
• Familiarity with greenfield and brownfield mining projects.
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
