About the Role
As our Deployment Engineer (Product Launch), you will take our newest products from prototype and pilot into full-scale deployment. You will track field issues, provide feedback to engineering, and determine when fixes are ready for release. This role serves as the link between engineers, field crews, and deployment operations, influencing product decisions based on field learnings.
Responsibilities
- Track new hardware products through pilot and public rollout phases, identifying blockers.
- Act as the field's advocate in hardware decisions by logging defects, spotting trends, and escalating high-impact issues.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams to validate fixes.
- Manage the prototype build and defect tracking process, maintaining build records and test tickets.
- Provide direct support to field crews during installs and service calls involving new hardware.
- Develop and maintain rollout playbooks and hardware defect logs.
- Report on hardware readiness and known issues to engineering and leadership.
Requirements
- 2+ years in a hardware-adjacent technical role (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, Hardware Product or Program Management).
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience tracking a product from prototype through production.
- Strong documentation habits for defect logs, build records, and playbooks.
- Proven ability to write hardware and software issue reports that engineers act upon.
- A 4-year degree, or equivalent hands-on hardware or field experience.
- Familiarity with tools like Grafana, Jira, or Retool, or the ability to learn them quickly.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Team player with clear communication skills under pressure.
