About the Role

As a National Conveyance Lead, you will set the strategy and raise the visibility of Black & Veatch's Conveyance business with internal and external clients. You will be responsible for the development of new business, supporting project work, and building/developing teams to achieve business growth and execution goals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for annual business planning and overall strategic direction to achieve new business growth and earned revenue targets, while effectively managing risks and establishing a business reputation.
  • Create a brand around the service offering and raise visibility in the marketplace with internal clients, including Client Directors and Project Managers.
  • Raise the visibility of the practice with external clients through active participation in professional meetings, technical presentations, workshops, and client meetings.
  • Coordinate with other Civil Works Sub-Portfolio Leads to achieve business growth and develop a team of supporting staff.
  • Define resource gaps within the Conveyance business, P&L Centers, and Operations, and take a significant role in recruiting new talent.
  • Maintain frequent and consistent communication with client-facing resources to understand market opportunity.
  • Take a significant role in new business development, working collaboratively with Client Directors and Project Managers on strategies and tactics to improve capture on given opportunities.
  • Support teaming discussions and pre-positioning activities associated with a given opportunity.
  • During the proposal phase, establish the organizational structure, identify qualifications and experience of the firm and key resources, develop the technical work approach, and messaging.
  • Take an active role in preparations for oral interviews on selected pursuits, including coaching of the team and support with delivery and messaging.
  • For selected high-profile pursuits, may be sold into a key position as Project Director, Project Manager, or similar.
  • Maintain keen awareness of the work the conveyance group has under contract and maintain responsibility for profitability on projects and related risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements which may include a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

Skills

  • Strong market knowledge across the United States in pipelines and pump stations.
  • Visible leadership in related professional societies.
  • Experience as a subject matter expert in pipeline and pump station design or their appurtenances.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in the pursuit or execution phases of a project or program.
  • Experience in recruiting top talent and developing/mentoring others.
  • Prior project management or project execution experience.
