About the Role

This role is part of the Controller’s group within Mastercard’s North America Finance team, reporting to the NA Regional Controller. The group ensures the integrity of US GAAP financials, provides support to business teams, and manages accounting and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate monthly close with the GBSC and review deliverables, including revenue analysis.
  • Lead quarterly US GAAP reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Provide advice for revenue and billing questions.
  • Oversee the revenue waiver and claims process.
  • Support revenue assurance initiatives and activities across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Support the NA Region’s accounting and reporting in accordance with Corporate policies and US GAAP and SEC requirements.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and decisions related to revenue and expenses.
  • Support the region’s SOX controls, internal control monitoring, and risk management initiatives.
  • Prepare financial reports and conduct financial analyses.
  • Make recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead 2 staff direct reports, including coaching, development, goal setting, and performance appraisal processes.
  • Analyze revenue and provide analysis and detail during month-end close to assist NAM Finance.
  • Provide support and guidance to other groups regarding deal structures, billing set-up, and implementation.
  • Partner with global revenue assurance team to drive execution of revenue assurance initiatives.
  • Serve as a first point of escalation for compliance issues and oversee compliance activities (e.g. SOX and ORM).
  • Implement initiatives to strengthen existing controls and optimize business processes.
  • Highlight potential exposures for communication to leadership.
  • Drive process efficiencies and risk mitigation.
  • Develop efficient solutions to improve financial accounting, reporting, and control.
  • Assist in business monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
  • Active CPA or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong revenue recognition and technical accounting experience under US GAAP.
  • Strong knowledge of Internal Controls concepts and Sarbanes Oxley regulations.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting & finance systems/software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership with ability to lead staff and develop business relationships across all levels.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and strong team player.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently with cross functional partners.
  • Drives continual process improvement agenda.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to provide solutions that drive positive results.

Salary/Compensations

  • $163,000 - $269,000 USD
