About the Role
Guggenheim is seeking a Vice President to join the Loan Services closing team. This role offers opportunities to develop bank loan industry knowledge and supports the Loan Closing team’s objectives. The ideal candidate will possess operational expertise in private debt, bank debt, and fixed income securities, with proven ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment. This position is located in our New York City Office and is full-time.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all trades are booked, allocated, reviewed for accuracy, executed, and checked off for closing in ClearPar in a timely manner.
- Review and understand LSTA standard documents and other legal documents including Trade Confirms, Assignment Agreements, Proceeds letters, Participation agreements, Cash collateral agreements, Multilateral Agreements, and Credit Agreements, specifically assignability language.
- Provide KYC packages and address questions for new accounts or as requested by counterparties, potentially requiring guidance from Compliance or Tax teams.
- Maintain close interaction with agent banks, counterparties, PMs, traders, analysts, legal, and compliance to ensure timely settlement of primary, secondary, and distressed loan trades.
- Maintain accuracy of trade details through ClearPar and WSO to resolve issues prior to settlement.
- Identify and escalate issues to the front office, bank loan trading assistants/traders, in-house legal counsel, and management when necessary, tracking them through appropriate workflow tools.
- Manage loan amendment workflow, including tracking, submission, and ensuring timely and accurate vote execution.
- Manage a heavy trade portfolio for the assigned client base, maintaining a clean aging profile with the goal of settlement within LSTA standards.
- Manage liquidity for various accounts through correspondence with PMs, notifying them of cash needs for settlement.
- Notify the FX desk at least 2 days prior to FX trades to ensure funds are available for settlement, or as soon as aware of late execution by the Agent.
- Follow up with custodians to ensure all trades are funded and resolve any cash breaks.
- Ensure all trade fees are booked into WSO, tied to ClearPar invoices, submitted to the custodian for payment, and followed up regularly.
- Draft manual documents such as trade confirms, assignment agreements, and funding memos for trades not booked on ClearPar.
- Facilitate funding for direct trades by working alongside the legal/origination team, manually drafting, reviewing, signing, and submitting funding memos to custodians for payment.
- Create, understand, and present metrics reporting for trading, portfolio management, and operations.
- Prepare monthly/weekly reporting to senior management for open trades and trading metrics.
- Process large-scale loan assignments related to special projects including CLO warehousing and closing, cross-trades, and client-directed transfers.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Business Administration / Finance concentration preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in CLO or leveraged loan operations within an investment management firm.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in investment operations.
- Experience with ClearPar or WSO or similar platforms.
- Experience managing operations professionals.
- High competence level with Microsoft Office.
- 5-8 years of bank loan-related experience.
- Knowledge of Wall Street Office, Aladdin, and Bloomberg.
- Loan closing experience.
- Team-oriented individual with the ability to work well across diverse groups in a collaborative, dynamic team environment.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without current or future visa sponsorship or transfer.
