About the Role

Kids in the Game is dedicated to fostering a love of learning and creativity in children through innovative after-school programs. We aim to inspire and educate the next generation of thinkers, makers, and problem-solvers by combining STEM with the Arts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead engaging, age-appropriate STEM and art projects.
  • Introduce STEM concepts through fun, hands-on experiments and interactive lessons.
  • Adapt lessons to meet varying skill levels and interests.
  • Encourage collaboration, innovation, and self-expression.
  • Commit to partaking in all enrichment coach trainings.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Model curiosity, problem-solving, and a growth mindset.
  • Provide positive reinforcement and guidance.
  • Model and promote positive character development and healthy peer interactions.
  • Use positive language at all times when engaging with students.
  • Work closely with the site director to coordinate schedules, materials, and activity spaces.
  • Communicate regularly with the Site Director regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Support overall program operations, including transitions, attendance tracking, and student supervision.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are used safely and appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom or activity area.
  • Follow all program policies and serve as a positive role model.
  • Respond appropriately to injuries, behavioral challenges, or conflicts.
  • Actively supervise all students to ensure a safe and structured environment.
  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to actively engage with youth.
  • Be prepared in proper uniform for every day of program.
  • Uphold the organization’s mission and values.
  • Demonstrate integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

Requirements

  • Possess at least two years of prior experience teaching STEM or art to groups of students of elementary and / or middle school children.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to relate to younger children, work with different age groups, and partner with school staff.
  • Passionate about youth development and providing a fun, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Available to work Monday - Friday during after school hours (2-6pm).
  • Ability to reliably commute to multiple locations throughout the week.
  • Up-to-date physical and tuberculosis test documentation required before starting.
  • Must pass Federal and NY State background checks.
  • Willing to complete Department of Education fingerprinting prior to starting.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk to and from nearby program locations.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
  • Ability to climb stairs in school buildings or community facilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in active games and movement-based activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness to supervise children effectively.
