About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Project Construction with expertise in water and wastewater infrastructure to oversee projects primarily on the East Coast, with a partly remote work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage preconstruction activities, including design review, procurement, and bidding
  • Implement, oversee, and maintain quality assurance and quality control programs
  • Lead and support the successful execution of construction projects, ensuring delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget
  • Serve as the owner’s representative, managing program and project execution with a value-added approach
  • Conduct and attend project progress meetings, providing clear updates to stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate construction risks, monitor project schedules, and control associated costs
  • Collaborate with business development teams to create proposals and marketing materials for new opportunities
  • Ensure timely invoicing and accurate cost reporting for assigned projects, maintaining budget controls
  • Develop, mentor, and manage field teams to ensure effective communication, teamwork, and execution
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for all construction activities
  • Provide technical expertise in water and wastewater infrastructure, including reviewing and interpreting construction drawings and specifications

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management and field operations, particularly in water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods, including CMAR, DB, and DBB
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (greater than 50%)

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Relevant certifications in water and wastewater construction management, such as CCM (Certified Construction Manager) or PE (Professional Engineer)
  • Extensive knowledge of construction principles, methods, and technologies related to water and wastewater facilities
  • Proficiency in project management software and field inspection tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to clients, public groups, and internal teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, including data analysis and decision-making under pressure
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and mentor staff
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets, contracts, and project costs effectively
