About the Role
A Janitor is responsible for keeping the workplace clean, organized, and disinfected. This role involves cleaning interior building spaces, maintaining restrooms, and ensuring supplies are stocked.
Responsibilities
- Clean the interior of buildings, including floors, carpets, rugs, windows and walls, and general tasks.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors in various work areas.
- Clean stains from chairs and upholstered furniture.
- Keep furniture, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and moldings free of dust.
- Empty trash cans and clean trash receptacles and ashtrays.
- Disinfect commonly used items such as desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
- Clean and maintain restrooms, and replenish supplies.
- Wash and clean windows and mirrors.
- Empty trash and recycling containers to the disposal area.
- Clean trash and snow from sidewalks if necessary.
- Maintain the inventory of cleaning supplies in stock and request missing materials.
- Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions or conditions requiring maintenance.
- Maintain a cleaning chart indicating the areas that were cleaned and inspected.
- Follow safety and precaution rules.
- Close doors at the end of the night shift.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
