About the Role
The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager supports the Food & Beverage Manager in overseeing daily operations of all food and beverage outlets at Diggerland USA. This role ensures exceptional guest service, food quality, cleanliness, safety, inventory control, staffing, and financial performance while leading a team of seasonal employees. The Assistant Manager is key to delivering a fun, efficient, and family-friendly dining experience in both the theme park and water park.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the daily operation of all food and beverage locations, including The Lunch Pail, Tool Box Café, Scoops & Shovels, Forklift Café, Splash N' Dash, and The Pit Stop, as well as group catering and special events.
- Lead, coach, and develop seasonal supervisors, leads, and food service team members.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff.
- Ensure all locations maintain high standards of guest service, food quality, cleanliness, and presentation.
- Enforce compliance with all local health department regulations, ServSafe standards, company policies, and sanitation procedures.
- Monitor food preparation, portion control, product quality, and recipe consistency.
- Assist with inventory management, purchasing, budgets, receiving deliveries, and minimizing food waste.
- Monitor labor costs by assisting with scheduling based on attendance, weather, park attendance, and operating hours.
- Perform opening, closing, and operational inspections of all food and beverage locations.
- Ensure all cash handling, point-of-sale, and reconciliation procedures are followed accurately.
- Respond professionally and efficiently to guest concerns and service recovery opportunities.
- Support park-wide special events, festivals, groups, birthday parties, and catered functions.
- Maintain food and beverage equipment and coordinate maintenance requests as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all Board of Health, OSHA, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Step into the Food & Beverage Manager's responsibilities during their absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in food service, hospitality, restaurant, amusement park, or entertainment operations preferred.
- Experience supervising large seasonal workforces preferred.
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, food cost controls, labor management, and guest service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and extended shifts during peak operating periods.
