About the Role
The FSU Web Analyst (Work Study) supports the Fanshawe Student Union’s digital presence by assisting with website content updates, conducting routine site maintenance, and monitoring digital engagement metrics. This role contributes to the accuracy, functionality, and effectiveness of FSU’s online platforms by helping ensure information is timely, accessible, and student‑focused. The position also supports the analysis of website and social media data to help guide communication strategies and improve digital user experience.
Responsibilities
- Update website content including event listings, news, service information, and general page content.
- Conduct routine website checks to identify broken links, formatting issues, outdated content, and accessibility gaps.
- Upload, resize, and optimize images and graphics for web use.
- Assist with basic content layout and formatting to support branding and readability.
- Monitor website analytics and compile regular reports on traffic, engagement, and user patterns.
- Track and summarize social media metrics (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter) to identify trends and engagement opportunities.
- Provide data insights to support decision‑making for campaigns, events, and communication activities.
- Create simple data visualizations to present findings clearly.
- Assist in developing and distributing student surveys related to digital engagement and student experience.
- Gather and summarize survey results, identifying key themes and data points.
- Support the Communications Team by organizing digital assets and maintaining content accuracy across platforms.
- Work collaboratively with the Communications Team to support digital projects and initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute updates on website tasks and analytics findings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support FSU’s digital communications objectives.
Requirements
- Must be a full-time Fanshawe College student approved for the Work Study program.
- Experience with web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, PHP, and ASP.
- Basic knowledge of databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Photoshop or other image-editing software.
- Proficiency with analytic software (e.g., Google, Hootsuite).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Reliable and consistent attendance record.

- The Work Study Employment Program will help Fanshawe Student Union financially to employ students over the summer, fall, and winter term.
